First rail laid down in Tibet

Two 25-meter-long rails, the first in Tibet, were laid at the Amdo Railway Station at 11^Vice-Premier Huang Ju sent a message, on behalf of the Chinese central authorities, to congratulate the rail laying.
Construction of the 1,118-kilometer Qinghai-Tibet Railway from Lhasa, capital of Tibet, to Golmud in neighboring Qinghai Province started in 2001.
