New international exhibition center to be built in SW China

Construction of a new international convention and exhibition center started recently in this capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The center, which covers 100 hectares in the new district of southern Chengdu, will take three to five years to complete at an estimated cost of 5 billion yuan (602 million US dollars).
The project comprises three parts, including an exhibition areawhich has nine exhibition halls with a total floor space of 200,000 square meters, hotels and cultural facilities and a park.
When the project is completed, it will host 150 exhibitions and 2,000 meetings annually with 20 million participants, said Deng Hong, chairman of the Chengdu International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Currently, Chengdu has two exhibition centers, which accommodate 600 meetings and 50 exhibitions a year.
