Shaanxi Province makes US$6m investment in school repairs

The government of Shaanxi Province, Northwest China, has decided to invest 50 million yuan (US$6 million) in rebuilding and repairing schools affected by heavy flooding this year.
The flooding in autumn caused damage to 2,780 schools in the province, 101 of which were totally destroyed.
Forty-four schools, serving 11,865 students, were inundated and most of their walls collapsed after the water receded, causing direct economic losses of 36.6 million yuan (US$4.3 million).
