Lawyers in the national capital of Beijing and Qinghai province in northwestern China donated 222, 000 yuan (26,750 US dollars) Sunday in a project to help pastoral Tibetans in Qinghai Province.
A total of 185 pastoral families will benefit from the "Bright Project" as the fund will be used to purchase 185 solar-powered electricity generators.
The project was launched by a Beijing bar association and a Qinghai provincial association of lawyers, in an effort to help the last 185 households with financial needs in using electricity in Angsai Township in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu.
Located at an altitude ranging from 3,900 meters to 4,000 meters, the township has an average temperature of minus 7 degrees Celsius each year.
The township has an area of 1,780 sq km and is home to 660 pastoral families or 3,419 residents.
