On July 6, the first railway tracks were laid for the new Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway, which is expected to be finished before the end of this month and will begin undergoing tests beginning August 1.

The Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway will cover a distance of 160 miles. Its top speed will be 350 miles per hour, which means that it will only take 38 minutes to get from Hangzhou to Shanghai once it is put into use on National Day, 40 minuets faster than the current bullet trains.

From Shanghai Hongqiao Station to Hangzhou East Station, there are seven stations along the line: Songjiang South Station, Jingshan North Station, Jiashan South Station, Jiaxing South Station, Tongxiang Station, Haining West Station and Yuhang South Station.
