Jan 3—5, 2001: The CPC Central Committee holds a conference on rural work in Beijing
From January 3—5 the CPC Central Committee held a conference on rural work in Beijing. This meeting conveyed the instructions of Jiang Zemin: it is a necessary requirement for building a moderately prosperous society and accelerating socialist modernization to constantly consolidate and strengthen agriculture as the foundations of the new century. Through the reform and opening up and technological progress we should promote agricultural and rural economic restructuring and increase farmers' incomes to ensure national food security, maintaining social stability in rural areas. This work is related to the Party and the whole country.
Zhu De, born in Yilong County of Sichuan Province in 1886 and passed away in 1976, is a great Marxist, proletarian revolutionary, statesman and military strategist.
A native of Le Zhi, in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, and awarded by the People's Republic of China the military rank of marshal; Served as the country's Vice Premier (1954-1972) and Foreign Minister (1958-1972)
