Jan 21—Feb 2, 1922: The Comintern holds the First National Congress of Communist parties and national revolutionary organizations from Far East countries in Moscow

Delegations from China, North Korea, Japan and Mongolia attended the meeting. The Communist Party of China, Chinese Socialist Youth League, Chinese Kuomintang and Chinese workers, peasants, students, and other revolutionary groups were represented at the conference. The congress exposed the reactionary essence of a meeting held by the so-called imperialist countries on coordinating their interests in the Far East, and then summed up the experiences of people of Far East counties in carrying out their revolutionary struggle. The congress also clarified the historic tasks of oppressed nations to stand against imperialism and feudalism, according to Lenin's Theory. During the meeting, Lenin, despite being ill, met with Chinese delegates. Lenin encouraged the Chinese working class and revolutionary people to unite to promote the Chinese revolution.

Jan 21, 1937: Mao Zedong speaks to the opening ceremony of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University

On Jan 21, 1937, the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University held the second semester's opening ceremony. In mid-January, to defend China against Japan imperialism, the Central Revolutionary Military Commission decided to change the name of Anti-Japanese Red Army University to the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. Mao Zedong was then chairman of the university's education commission. Mao spoke at the opening ceremony, describing the university as a grindstone wearing away petty bourgeois thinking and acting as a sharp blade to hone society's attention to innovation and the overthrow of Japanese imperialism.

Jan 21, 1976: Mao Zedong nominates Hua Guofeng as acting prime minister of the State Council

On Jan 21, 1976, Mao Zedong nominated Hua Guofeng as acting prime minister of the State Council to preside over the work of the Central Political Bureau. On Jan 28, 1976, Mao formally submitted his name. On Feb 2, 1976, the CPC Central Committee issued a notice that members had unanimously approved Hua Guofeng as acting prime minister of the State Council.
