1.In June 1979, an English newspaper preparation team was set up.

2.On June 11, 1980, the first internal trial edition was published, with eight pages, entitled "People's Daily News".

3.On Dec 3, 1980,former state leaders Hu Yaobang, Hu Qiaomu and Wang Renzhong officially named our newspaper China Daily. China's famous calligrapher Li Keran wrote China Daily's nameplate.

4.On March 9, 1981, the 8th China Daily internal trial edition was edited by electric phototypesetting equipment.

5.On April 30, 1981, China Daily published its first trial edition.

6.On June 1, 1981, China Daily was officially launched in Beijing.

 

In 1985, China Daily started to use satellites to send pages to Hong Kong and New York.
