Synergetic Cooperation among charitable organizations will help achieve the goal of building a community of shared future for mankind, officials agreed at a philanthropy forum.

As the biggest developing country, Chinese Philanthropy is involved in building a community of shared future for mankind in the "Chinese way", vice-minister of Civil Affairs Gao Xiaodong said at the opening ceremony of the Second World Philanthropy Forum.

China should enhance cooperation with other countries, international organizations and the public to participate in global governance under the UN framework and jointly discuss the construction of a community of shared future for mankind, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC) Li Haifeng said.

The opening ceremony of the Forum was held on Wednesday in Beijing and attended by more than 40 heads of international organizations and about 600 guests from over 400 institutions.

The forum was jointly launched by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Tsinghua University.

The theme of the forum is Synergetic Cooperation, focusing on topics of anti-poverty, social impact investment, environmental protection and youth development.

"We welcome insightful people to join the forum and carry out collaboration, so that we work toward the great goal of building a community of shared future for humanity," president of CPAFFC Li Xiaolin said at the opening ceremony.

Vice-chairman of the CPPCC Li Haifeng said that civil society organizations are important for people's participation in public affairs and economic and social development.

"Overseas non-governmental organizations are welcomed to China to carry out exchanges and cooperation and China will provide convenience and protect their legitimate rights and interests," she said.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres also sent a congratulatory letter to the forum, saying that creating a world of lasting peace and prosperity depends on greater investment in education, health and human rights, and modern philanthropy has a central role to play in delivering on this vision.

"We have much to learn from China's philanthropic endeavors, which are built on social impact to reach the most vulnerable," he said in the letter.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls on us to work together to tackle poverty and advance progress for all, he added.
