Xiazhuang village in Wushan county, southwest China's Chongqing has been locked in the mountains for generations, isolated and impoverished. To create a better future, the villagers started to build a road by themselves in 1997. Most of the time, they hung from the cliff and dug by hand. Six got killed during the construction of the 8-km-long road.
