Cold front to chill North China

Xinhua | Updated: 2017-10-07 13:37

A cold front will sweep across most of northern China in the next three days, bringing falling temperatures and moderate sleet, according to the national observatory.

Affected by cold air moving eastward, southern Xinjiang, central and western Inner Mongolia, and other northern regions will see temperatures drop by four to 10 degrees Celsius starting Saturday, with some areas to cool by up to 14 degrees.

The chilly weather will be accompanied by strong wind, precipitation or blowing sand in some places, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Saturday.

Southwest China's Sichuan Province will also be affected by the cold front.

The NMC forecast heavy rain in the east and south of Hainan, with rainfall of up to 60 millimeters, from Saturday morning through Sunday morning.

The national observatory said local governments should pay more attention to potential landslides and floods in rain-battered areas.
