Taiwan affairs official meets with KMT chairperson
NANJING -- Zhang Zhijun, head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Thursday stressed cross-Straits communication based on the 1992 Consensus.
Zhang made the remarks while meeting with Hung Hsiu-chu, chairperson of the Taiwan-based Kuomintang (KMT) party, who is visiting the mainland and will attend the 9th Straits Forum in Fujian province.
"The CPC has paid high attention to relations between the two parties," Zhang said.
The CPC is willing to keep communication, strengthen exchanges and dialogue, and maintain peaceful development of cross-Straits relations and stability in the Taiwan Straits, based on the common political basis of adhering to 1992 Consensus and opposing "Taiwan independence," he said.
