Mentally-ill blade attacker seized in Shanghai

SHANGHAI -- Shanghai police announced Friday that a man who used a blade to slash a French national on Wednesday has been caught.

The victim was slightly injured on his neck. The 27-year-old attacker, surnamed Mao, had been suffering from mental disease, according to police.

At around 1:40 pm, the man slashed a French national with a blade at the intersection of Yongjia street and Jiashan street in Xuhui district.

The attacker fled the scene, but was seized around 7 p.m. Wednesday. An investigation is ongoing.
