408 hectares of parks and green areas added to Beijing
BEIJING - Beijing added an extra 408 hectares of parks and green areas in 2016, as a result of the city's environmental improvements.
According to Beijing Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Forestry, the city completed ten new urban parks with a total coverage of 25 hectares in 2016.
Most of the new parks are near residential areas, helping improve the living environment of residents while offering opportunities for exercise and recreation.
Some 85,000 square meters of greenery on the roofs of schools, hospitals, as well as government and business organizations were also built.
