2010: Second lunar probe

On the National Day in 2010, countdown begins for the country's second lunar probe. Chang'e-2, a circumlunar satellite that would test key technology involved in a soft-landing on the moon around 2013, was scheduled to blast off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on that day.

Meanwhile, we have the story that China's tourism was in full stride with the advent of National Day Golden Week as increasing numbers of people are packing for domestic and international trips.

A China Tourism Academy report predicted that the country would receive 210 million travelers during the Golden Week holiday.

Flight tickets to Shanghai were hard to come by due to the popularity of the World Expo. Tourist cities such as Hangzhou, Chengdu, Changsha and Wuhan, also saw an increase in hotel prices.

Besides, more than 30,000 Chinese mainland tourists were expected to travel to Taiwan from Sept 29 to Oct 8, more than double the year of 2014's figure.
