More than 30 aeronauts from 11 nations including the United States and Italy will take part in a wingsuit flying contest during the AOPA-China Fly-In air show in Zhaotong, Yunnan province, from Sunday until Saturday.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China said on Wednesday in Beijing that this year's event will feature the sport of flying through the air wearing a special jumpsuit.
Zhaotong was chosen to stage the event as it has an average altitude of 3,100m and is a national natural reserve, the organization said, adding it will be the largest wingsuit flying performance in the country.
Wingsuit flying has become increasingly popular in China as the country is now enthusiastic to host various events for skydivers from around the world.
Earlier this month, the Fourth Red Bull Wingsuit Grand Prix took place in Hunan's Tianmen Mountain with 16 of the world's boldest athletes braving the 1,400-m peak.
