BEIJING - Senior military officials urged the country's service men and women to translate morale raised by the V-Day parade to contributions to a strong military.

A televised conference was held in Beijing summarizing activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War, which culminated in a military parade in the heart of Beijing on Sept 3.

Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), said the anniversary activities have bolstered people's trust in and support for the leadership of the Communist Party of China with Xi Jinping as the general secretary.

Fan urged service men and women to translate the trust into concrete actions to fulfill their absolute loyalty to the Party.

Officers and soldiers are also expected to carry on the spirit demonstrated in the war of resistance against Japanese invaders, and to strive for realizing their historical responsibility of building a strong army, Fan said.

Xu Qiliang, also vice chairman of the CMC, urged officers and soldiers to apply the military's rigorous and down-to-earth style demonstrated in the parade into everyday work.

The military should eliminate the negative influence of the corruption cases of former military leaders Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou in order to "purify its political environment", and to" guarantee its high degree of unity and stability", Xu said.
