SHANGHAI -- The 10th Cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Culture Forum, a regular forum between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, opened Sunday in China's eastern metropolis of Shanghai.
Yu Zhengsheng, top political advisor and senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Eric Chu, chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT), attended the opening ceremony.
Chu is leading a delegation to the 10th Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Culture Forum, scheduled for Sunday.
Zhang Zhijun, head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Chu at the airport.
The forum will focus on small and medium-sized companies, youth and ordinary people, to build a consensus and promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
Officials from the CPC, the KMT, other political parties from the island, and government agencies will attend the forum.
Representatives of small and medium-sized companies, youth, grassroots people, finance, sci-tech, cultural and educational fields will take part in the event.
