Airlines and tourism organizations have signed a cooperation agreement to develop the sector and promote good behavior among tourists.
The China Air Transport Association and China Tourism Association signed a cooperation framework agreement on Monday. The first proposal jointly brought up by the two sides was to promote “civilized tourism”.
The proposal encourages travel service providers to offer quality and tailored services for tourists. The airline and tourism industries will also work to remind tourists to follow the laws and customs of their destinations.
Organizations will also help to promote a new system that tracks the inappropriate behavior of Chinese tourists.
The system was introduced on April 5 to help address the bad behavior of tourists. According to the China National Tourism Administration, such behavior includes fighting on public transport, damaging public facilities or historical relics, ignoring social customs at tourism destinations, and becoming involved with gambling or prostitution.
The records will be kept by provincial and national tourism authorities for up to two years, starting from the day the misbehavior was confirmed by tourism authorities.
If necessary, they will also be handed to public security, customs, frontier inspection, transportation and banking authorities.
