China begins SOE inspections

BEIJING - The Communist Party of China's discipline enforcement agency has begun inspections of three major state-owned enterprises (SOEs), in a new round of workstyle checks.

Three teams of inspectors will be stationed in Huaneng Group, State Grid Corporation and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation for two months, according to a Friday statement by the Communist Party of China's central commission for discipline inspection.

The inspectors are reviewing complaints about misconduct in work and personnel arrangements received by phone, email and through personal visits.

The three are the first of 26 in the first round of this year. This round will take 13 teams, each covering two SOEs.

All major SOEs will be inspected this year as a precursor to SOE reform. Previous inspections led to the fall of over 70 executives in 2014.
