An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted waters off Taitung of Taiwan island at 4:06 am Saturday (Beijing Time), the China Earthquake Networks Center said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 7 km, was monitored at 22.6 degrees north latitude and 121.5 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
