Yu Shangqing, a policeman seriously injured in an explosion in 2003, died on Thursday having received treatment for the past 84 days in Beijing, the Beijing News reported.
Yu, 58, from Harbin, Heilongjiang province, had been kept alive by a ventilator, blood pump and other medical equipment, the newspaper quoted a doctor as saying.
More than 100 pieces of shrapnel remained in Yu's body after the blast as he was defusing bombs left at a hotel in Harbin. The explosion left him blind in one eye, deaf in his right ear and with a badly injured leg.
He was transferred to the capital in August after falling into a coma, according to the report.
