Beijing– From November 6, heavily polluting industrial activity will be halted in Tianjin city, six cities in Shandong province, and more cities in Hebei province to reduce air pollution during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting.

On November 3, Beijing and several cities in adjacent Hebei were ordered to take emergency measures to reduce emissions by suspending heavily polluting manufacturing and construction. The cities are also imposing an odd-even license plate traffic ban and will offer a six-day holiday from November 7 to 13.

Meteorologists have predicted that the weather conditions in Beijing between November 8 and 11 will not be favorable for dispersing pollutants, and the capital may suffer from medium or severe pollution.

According to the Shandong Business Daily, if pollution occurs, all non-basic factory activities will be halted, schools will be canceled at middle and elementary schools, traffic bans will be imposed, and all construction work will be stopped.
