BEIJING - The China National Convention Center, a main venue for the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Week, installed 7,450 energy-saving LED lights as part of major rennovations before the international event.
Such environment friendly lights were also installed in the center's banquet and multi-function halls to improve lighting, according to the center.
The move is estimated to save 1.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
To brace for the APEC events, the center has carried out a series of renovation projects, including 400 additional monitoring cameras and a full cleaning.
The press center of the venue will be put into use on Nov. 4 and is expected to host about 3,000 Chinese and foreign reporters.
The cuisine served at the meeting will highlight Beijing's local flavor to give foreign dignitaries a feel for Chinese culture. The center will provide 92 meals, each serving around 70,000 people.
The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting will be held in Beijing from Nov. 10 to 11. The APEC leaders' week also includes the final senior officials' meeting from Nov. 5 to 6 and the 26th ministerial meeting from Nov. 7 to 8.
