BEIJING - China hopes the European Union (EU) will make responsible and correct currency policies to promote the sustainable growth of the world, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Friday.
Spokesman Qin Gang made the comment a day after the European Central Bank (ECB) decided to cut all the interest rates by 10 basis points and start buying non-financial private sector assets amid growing concerns about the Eurozone stagnation.
"As a major economy, EU shoulders important responsibilities in promoting global economic recovery and growth," Qin said.
"When EU suffered from the sovereign debt crisis, other countries lent it a hand. The spirit of helping each other to overcome difficulties should be continued," the spokesman added.
