Roche delivers love and support with collective effort

He Yunkui, vice Chairwoman of Red Cross of Yunnan province receives donation fund from Susan Luan, the national market access director of Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd.

Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd. announced a donation of RMB 1 million in cash and 15,000 doses of Rocephin (Injective Ceftriaxone Sodium used for the treatment of bacterial infection), to support disaster relief in Yunnan's earthquake-stricken Ludian region through local Red Cross.

Following the earthquake, Roche immediate activated a disaster response plan and reached out to the local Red Cross. Roche's donation will be distributed to medical and health that are supporting rescue work and relief efforts.

Ms. He Yunkui, vice Chairwoman of Red Cross of Yunnan province expressed, "We are grateful to corporations like Roche, who were moved to help and reached out to support our rescue efforts immediately after the disaster. Millions of people have been affected by the earthquake in Yunnan. As of 19:00 on August 7th, there are more than 600 people dead and more than 3000 injured, with rescue work requiring enormous manpower and resources. I believe that the support and care from all can play a crucial role in helping the victims. We hope more companies like Roche will join us in supporting the disaster relief efforts. At the moment, supplies such as water, food and drugs continue to be delivered to the stricken areas. The Red Cross will ensure that all supplies are allocated accordingly and reach the affected people on time."

Ms. Susan Luan, the national market access director of Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd. said, “We are deeply concerned about the affected area and people. We share their pain and are committed to supporting them in this challenging situation. Roche is closely following the progress of relief efforts in the region and actively offering our support to local medical institutes. We will also mobilize our employees to join our efforts to provide more financial help to the stricken areas.”

For the past 20 years, Roche China has always been dedicated to improving the well-being of people in China and has prioritized our responsibility to the community. In partnership with others, Roche has always played an active role in providing humanitarian aid and support in major crises and natural disasters, including the SARS outbreak, Wenchuan earthquake, Qinghai earthquake and Ya'an earthquake among others. To date, Roche donations have reached RMB 40 million in total.
