Shen Peiping, a former vice-governor of Yunnan province, is being investigated on allegations of bribery, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate announced on Wednesday.
In a post on its official website, the SPP said Shen is accused of accepting huge bribes. He has been detained for further investigation.
Earlier on the same day, the top anti-graft watchdog said Shen allegedly used his job to benefit others and received huge bribes. He was also accused of adultery.
According to the authority, he has been expelled from the Party and removed from his post.
Also on Wednesday, the SPP said Zhu Zuoli, a former vice-head of the Shaanxi provincial political advisory body, is being investigated for bribery.
When allegations of corruption by senior officials are reported, the top anti-graft agency said, it will immediately conduct investigations and, if evidence is found, will transfer that to judicial organs, such as the top prosecuting department, to file charges.
