Memorable moments for China at the 2014 Rim of the Pacific naval exercise:
The US naval commander in charge of this year's RIMPAC exercise visited the Chinese fleet. Accompanied by Zhao Xiaogang, drill director of the Chinese fleet, Vice-Admiral Kenneth E. Floyd visited the missile destroyer Haikou, the missile frigate Yueyang, the supply ship Qiandaohu and the hospital ship Peace Ark.
June 30
The US navy held a welcome and opening ceremony for the multinational naval drill in Hawaii.
July 4
Naval officers from the Republic of Korea attending the drills paid a visit to the Haikou and the Peace Ark.
July 9
The RIMPAC maritime drills began. Three Chinese ships, including the missile frigate Yueyang, were seen leaving Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for the exercise area as part of the Chinese fleet mission — participating in the multinational naval exercises.
July 13
Chinese military personnel took part in a live fire drill.
July 15
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said Australia welcomes cooperation in regional military exercises such as RIMPAC, which China joined for the first time this year.
July 30
RIMPAC ended and the Chinese ships returned to anchor at Pearl Harbor.
Aug 1
A closing ceremony for the RIMPAC 2014 multinational naval drill was held in Hawaii.
Aug 4
The four Chinese vessels are scheduled to leave Pearl Harbor. The Haikou, Yueyang and Qiandaohu will pay a friendly visit to San Diego, California.
