Chinese FM to make US, UN trip

BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit the United States from Sept 19 to 21, as a guest of US Secretary of State John Kerry, and then attend the UN General Assembly in New York, a Foreign Ministry spokesman announced on Monday.

Wang and Kerry will exchange views on China-US ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern, Hong Lei said in a written statement.

The 68th Session of the UN General Assembly will start at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Sept 17.

Wang will head a delegation to attend the conference from Sept 22 to 27 and deliver a speech at the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, Hong said.

Wang's speech will elaborate on the diplomatic philosophy and thinking of China's new administration. He will also expound China's proposition on the current international situation and major international and regional issues, according to the spokesman.

The foreign minister's speech will demonstrate China's willingness to work with United Nations member states to contribute to peace and the development of mankind, Hong said.
