Flower at Tian'anmen Square for National Day cut down
Tian'anmen Square will feature smaller and simpler flower beds during the National Day holiday.
The Beijing Bureau of Landscape and Forestry announced that the move is part of the capital's bid to implement the central leadership's guidelines on curbing extravagance.
The annual decorations at Tian'anmen Square to celebrate the National Day, which falls on Oct 1 every year, will have a massive basket of flowers as high as 16 meters, but no flower beds will be placed at both flanks of the square, the authority announced on its micro blog.
Another 10 flower beds will be placed along Chang'an Avenue with the theme of “The Realization of the China Dream”. Setup for the decorations began on Wednesday and will be finished on Sept 25.
