Premier Li to attend Summer Davos
BEIJING - Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will attend the Summer Davos Forum in the city of Dalian in northeast China, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Thursday.
Li will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the forum and have a dialogue with entrepreneurs. He will also meet the leaders of Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland and Malta, Hong told a routine press conference in Beijing.
The theme of the forum will concentrate on innovation. Industry, market and financial risks will also be discussed.
According to Hong, the event will also consist of more than 100 sub-forums. About 1,600 people, including national leaders, government officials, entrepreneurs, scholars and media leaders from more than 80 countries will attend.
Hong said the world economy is in a period of adjustment and China's economy has stable growth. He said all sides attach great importance to the world economic recovery, economic trends in emerging markets and China's relative policies.
"We hope the forum will analyze the economic and financial situation objectively and make a positive contribution to the world economy," Hong said.
Summer Davos, also known as the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions, is an annual gathering and will take place from September 11 to 13 this year.
China has played host to the event alternately in Tianjin and Dalian, since its inception in 2007.
