HANGZHOU - A knife-wielding man injured eight people, including two policemen, on Saturday morning in Hangzhou City of east China's Zhejiang Province, local authorities said.

The man surnamed Liu, 33, injured a neighbor with two knives and wounded five others on a street at about 8:30 a.m. while running after other neighbors in Xiacheng District, according to a Hangzhou municipal public security bureau statement.

The injuries of the six victims were not life-threatening, according to the statement.

The topless man later ran into a nearby Walmart store and was captured by police at about 9 a.m., according to the statement.

Two policemen were bitten by Liu, it said.

"We noticed a topless man with two knives walking into the store and we informed the police immediately," said Chen Danfang, a manager of the store.

"We called all our male colleagues to come to the vegetable section where the man was wandering. Our female colleagues were evacuating customers to the office area at the same time," she said.

Police arrived four minutes later and captured the man. He was caught by police and carried out of the store, she said.

"It was really scary. You don't know what's happening and suddenly you could be attacked," said Wu Yayun, a customer holding a baby.

Jobless Liu is a local from Nong'an County of northeast China's Jilin Province.

An investigation is underway.
