Guangzhou nabs train ticket scalpers

The Guangzhou Railway Public Security Bureau caught several ticket scalpers on Monday at Guangzhou East railway station.

The scalpers charged up to 300 yuan ($49) more than the ticket price of 151 yuan while some passengers were told by the ticket office that the tickets they wanted were sold out, reported Yangcheng Evening News.

The scalping involved through trains between Guangzhou, Guangdong province, and Kowloon, Hong Kong.

The through train tickets do not carry passengers' ID information and scalpers can buy many of them in advance.

The bureau has caught 92 and put four under administrative detention for law-breaking activities at the railway stations in Guangzhou since July 1.
