Adult in Beijing rape case reportedly identified
The only adult among the five suspects involved in a rape case in Beijing that caught nationwide attention has been identified, Beijing-based newspaper The Mirror reported on Wednesday.
Beijing police had previously refused to disclose information, including names and photos, of the five suspects, including the adult, citing four minors being involved in the case as the reason.
The newspaper said the adult is a 23-year-old company employee in Beijing, surnamed Wang, citing an anonymous informant.
The five were accused of raping a girl at a hotel in Beijing in February. One of them is a 17-year-old, surnamed Li, the son of Li Shuangjiang, a famous singer in the People's Liberation Army.
All five have been transferred to the prosecutors' agency after a police investigation, Beijing's public security bureau said earlier.
Online rumors earlier said that the police have been refusing to disclose information about the suspects as all of them have influential family backgrounds, speculation which has been rejected by the police.
