816 elected in provincial leadership reshuffle
BEIJING - A total of 816 people were elected leadership members of China's provincial-level legislatures, governments and political advisory bodies in a reshuffle earlier this year.
The Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, or the Party's top organ in charge of officials selection, released the figure in a statement issued late on Thursday.
The newly-elected provincial leaders include a number of people aged below 50, and many cadres who are familiar with the areas of macro-economy, industry, agriculture, finance and urban construction.
The statement described the reshuffle as a "key" political development following the 18th CPC national congress in November, a major power-transitional event.
