Chicago is your kind of town for summer

By Xu Lin | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-06-21 20:53

For those who plan to visit Chicago this summer, one of the highlights may be watching an outdoor movie, enjoying local snacks and catching the breeze off Michigan Lake.

With 195 popular movies being shown in the city's 150 parks at night for free from June 13 to Sept 14, the Windy City is transformed into the biggest outdoor theater in the United States. The opening film is Rise of the Guardian, and other attractions include Skyfall, Life of Pi and Ice Age. Most of the parks are on the banks of Lake Michigan. This allows people to also admire Buckingham Fountain – one of the biggest fountains in the world.

"The Chicago summer is famous. The city has artistic activities and celebrations, with excellent cuisine on offer and superb shopping facilities. We've been making every effort to partner with Chinese marketing companies, to make sure that Chinese tourists can experience the typical American life," says Xiang Hong, chief representative of Choose Chicago.

Choose Chicago is cooperating with 10 tour agencies from Beijing and Shanghai, to promote its tourism product. Chinese travelers can stay in the city for two or three nights, and enjoy the Chicago Bulls in NBA, a musical, pub jazz, or watch an outdoor movie in a park.
