An official from Shenzhen has been expelled from the Communist Party of China after being found guilty of acting indecently toward a male hotel attendant in Taiwan.

Li Pingshan, discipline committee secretary and director of the comprehensive office of Longgang neighborhood committee in Shenzhen's Longgang district, will also receive relevant administrative sanctions, according to a press release from the information office of Longgang district government on Monday night.

Li's behavior seriously violated Party discipline and relevant regulations and rules, said the press release.

Li, 43, was first reported, by a Taiwan television on May 21, to have acted indecently toward a male hotel attendant when he visited Taiwan last week.

Li earlier paid 180,000 Taiwan dollars ($6,500) in compensation to the male hotel attendant, a local TV station reported.

Li then returned to Shenzhen on May 22.

The Longgang district government established a special task force to investigate the case.
