By Daqiong and Palden | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-05-21 15:32

The Tibet autonomous region has launched a 4-year wildlife survey.

Thirty-five field workers took part in a training program covering monitoring and management in the region’s forestry, surveying and planning institute.

The survey will focus on the distribution, habitat and population of wildlife. Areas of particular interest will include protection of habitat, breeding, and possible domestication.

The scope of the survey will cover all 153 wildlife species in Tibet.

Of these, 44 species will be the target of specific surveys separate from the general survey.

The survey is the second of its kind to be conducted in Tibet. The first was conducted from 1998 to 2001.
