China issues rainstorm alert for southern region

Local residents cope with heavy rainfall as water covered the streets in Shantou, South China's Guangdong province on May 19, 2013. The city revived 50 millimeters of rainfalls with three hours on Sunday afternoon. The local meteorological authority raised the rainfall alert from yellow to orange, the second most serious level of the alert system.
