UNITED NATIONS - A senior Chinese diplomat on Friday reiterated China's firm rejection of terrorism, and called on the international community to continue to cooperate with the UN Security Council to fight terrorism.

Li Baodong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, made the call while addressing a meeting of the Security Council on counterterrorism.

"China rejects terrorism in all forms and manifestations," said Li following a briefing by the chairs of the Security Council subsidiary committees on counterterrorism.

"We hope the committees will continue their dialogue with member states, strengthen the cooperation with other UN agencies, and help member states, especially the developing countries to strengthen capacity-building in counterterrorism," Li said.

The Chinese ambassador also emphasized that China rejects double standards in combating terrorism.

"We support the United Nations and its Security Council to play a leading role in the international counterterrorism cooperation, and hope that the international community will continue to strengthen cooperation to prevent and combat terrorism," he added.
