Chinese authorities call for frugal, safe TV programs
BEIJING - Radio and TV stations have been urged to follow a frugal style in a safe manner, according to a circular issued by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television on Friday.
The circular called for all-level radio and TV stations to improve work style and adhere to the mass in order to meet the "eight requirements" made by the leadership of the Communist Party of China to reject extravagance and bureaucracy.
The circular said that all programs, including Spring Festival galas should be styled in a simple and easy way.
The radio and TV stations should also save funds to innovate, improve the quality of programs, and support public welfare, to set a good example for the public.
