The police chief in a Central China county was removed from office on Tuesday, after a video was made public showing traffic police in the county forcing drivers to pay illegal fees, China Central Television reported.

Bai Yong, director of the public security bureau of Huojia county, Henan province, has been removed from office, according to an announcement from the Henan provincial public security department released on Tuesday.

In the seven-minute video, which was made public on Nov 19, a policeman in Huojia county is seen asking a truck driver to pay a "passing fee". The driver's license was confiscated by police after he refused to pay the fee.

Pan Xiangmin, the driver who secretly made the video, said that drivers had to pay at least 50 yuan ($7.96) each time they passed the county.
