BEIJING - China and Vietnam pledged to further promote their partnership on Saturday.
The pledge came out of a meeting between Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Hoang Binh Quan, the special envoy of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Liu conveyed CPC Central Committee General Secretary Xi Jinping's greeting and good wish to Trong during the meeting.
He expressed gratitude for the Vietnamese central committee and Trong 's move to send a special envoy to China to deliver a congratulatory message to the new central leadership of the CPC following the just-concluded 18th CPC National Congress.
He said this fully demonstrated the importance they have attached to the development of China-Vietnam ties.
Liu briefed Hoang on the highlights of the congress, which concluded on Wednesday.
The congress was held very smoothly and very successfully, said Liu, noting it has answered a series of major questions regarding the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics, laid out a blueprint for completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and speeding socialist modernization, and elected a new-term CPC Central Committee and discipline inspection committee.
Liu pointed out that China highly values the relations between the two parties and will work with the Vietnamese side to uphold the correct direction of developing bilateral relationship and promote the two countries' comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Hoang, CPV Central Committee member and CPV international department chief, congratulated the CPC on the success of the party's congress and the election of the new central leadership on behalf of the CPV central committee and Trong.
He also conveyed greetings to Xi and other Chinese leaders.
The congress is a significant political event for the Chinese government and its people and a milestone in China' s development, he said, adding that the CPV believes that Chinese people will realize the goals set in the party's congress.
