With the latest 3,000-ton inspection ship patrolling the waters of the Yellow Sea, another 3,000-ton patrol ship joined the China Marine Surveillance fleet on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the State Oceanic Administration on Thursday.

The new ship will patrol waters in the East China Sea, an official from the CMS said in the statement.

More ships will join the country's offshore law enforcement force to further safeguard the country's waters. The new ships will boost the law enforcement capacities of CMS, playing an important role in effectively protecting the country's maritime interests, the statement said.

The official said that CMS will aim to achieve the country's newly proposed strategy of becoming a "maritime power", which was announced during the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
