SHANGHAI - An out-of-control car killed five people and injured three on Oct 15 on the Shanghai-Xi'an Expressway, the official micro blog of Shanghai traffic information center has announced.
The accident occurred about 2 kilometers from the toll station dividing Chongming county and downtown Shanghai at about 11 am. Xinhua News Agency reported that all eight people are expressway maintenance workers.
Witnesses said the injured people were immediately sent to the Chongming County No 2 People's Hospital and part of the road was closed after the accident.
Local media reported that the car, which was licensed in Shanghai, drove into the rails in the middle of the road, hitting the maintenance staff working on the road. The two people in the car, a father and son, are both safe.
