BEIJING - China's meteorological authority lifted Saturday a yellow typhoon alert with the weakening of tropical storm Doksuri.
The storm, which was upgraded to a severe tropical storm on Thursday morning, weakened after making landfall Saturday on the coast of Guangdong province, according to the National Meteorological Center.
Doksuri will continue to move northwest at a speed of 25 to 30 km per hour, the center said.
Meanwhile, heavy rains and storms are expected to hit areas along the Yellow, Yangtze and Huaihe rivers, as well as the Sichuan Basin, over the next three days.
Northwest China, the eastern Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Northeast China will see showers and thunderstorms, the center said.
The National Meteorological Center said temperatures may climb to more than 35 degrees celsius in middle and eastern regions south of the Yangtze.
