BEIJING - Vice-Premier Li Keqiang said on Tuesday that China is ready to make efforts with Indonesia to advance the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Li made the remark while meeting with visiting Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro in Zhongnanhai, the Chinese government's central compound.

Li said China and Indonesia are friendly neighbors that share broad common interests. He cited a 2005 meeting between President Hu Jintao and his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, which resulted in the creation of a strategic partnership between the two countries.

Li pointed out that in recent years, the two countries have continuingly increased trade and investment and expanded cooperation in the areas of energy, infrastructure, science, technology and culture. Li said cooperation between the defense departments and militaries of the two countries has also seen remarkable growth.
