How world media saw dialogue

The annual Strategic and Economic Dialogue yielded more results on economic issues than some analysts had expected, although many remained skeptical China's market-opening vows would translate into concrete benefits for US business.

The relatively concrete and specific results of the regular Strategic and Economic Dialogue between the world's two largest economies suggest that reduced tension over China's undervalued currency is making progress easier on trade and investment issues.

-Financial Times

The United States and China on Tuesday pledged to deepen their cooperation on economic and military matters, setting aside a year of tension over issues such as (the US') arms sales to Taiwan and the value of China's currency with what officials referred to as a "milestone" agreement.

-The Washington Post

Another key factor in the success of this round of talks is that the two sides were candid with each other in dealing with their differences and disputes.

In fact, as long as the two sides can clearly identify the main trend of the world in the 21st century as well as the main trend of their ties, firmly follow the directions formulated by the leaders of the two countries and remove obstacles, they will surely create a new path for the development of relations between big countries.
