The Ministry of Defense also launched their new website on the historic day - mod.gov.cn.
Both the new version of chinamil.com.cn and the launching of mod.gov.cn will help the world to witness a more open and transparent Chinese military defense, Huang Guozhu, the chief editor of China Military Online said at a news conference in Beijing on Monday.
The two websites will complement each other – one is to publish authoritative information and the other is to provide all-around and speedy military news coverage, according to Huang.
The new features of China Military Online includes extending the main page to eight pages long from the previous four, its sections have increased from 13 to 85, and its channels expanded from 325 to 1,233.
Founded in 1999, China Military Online is the only authoritative media of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) to release military news and comprehensive information on the Internet. The daily page views of chinamil.com.cn have reached 20 million.
