BEIJING - More than 500 native Xinjiang minors have been rescued since a national anti-trafficking campaign was launched by public security departments across the country in April.

A total of 464 suspects had been detained and 90 trafficking gangs broken up by the police as of late July, Liu Guichun, a police official with the Public Security Department of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, said Thursday.

Professional anti-trafficking teams and organizations have been set up in Xinjiang, said Liu.

Up till now, 360 out of the 500 rescued native minors have been sent back to Xinjiang, most are poorly educated, according to Sun Haiyu, director of the aid work management office of the region.
